Choices of Cruises Meant for Small and Big Weddings

For couples who want a combination of adventure and romance, cruise lines are now a way to go. In the last years, different types of cruise lines have been busy with extending their services to couples who want to get married on board. Now, brides do not have to feel the stress of planning a wedding since the cruise itself will handle it for them. Many cruise lines are offering a variety of services that include the wedding ceremony either done on the ship or have it on shore, then followed by a festive reception, and of course the honeymoon.

The process of planning a cruise wedding is easy. All you need to do is to just call your selected cruise line, and then their experienced in-house wedding coordinators will do the work for you. They will be responsible with all of your needs such as planning the ceremony, menu, flowers, cake, and music. Some may even extend their help by helping you get your wedding licenses, make the wedding invitations and Thank You cards. They can also provide tuxedo rentals, and even hair and spa appointments.

One main reason for the popularity of on board weddings, is the great value it can provide. Prices may start at around $800 for an on board wedding on top of the cost of the cruise. The ceremony is commonly done in the ships chapel (if they have one), a lounge, the library, a boardroom or a wedding in port. However, larger ships provide better offerings such as aboard a carousel, rock-climbing wall, or just plainly having the wedding on the beach.

With security being tightened on all ships, those who could attend your wedding will also depend on the wedding package you purchase. Guests who are paying passengers on the cruise can easily access and attend the ceremony and reception while still being able to enjoy the whole cruise. Non-sailing guests can also attend the ceremony and reception, but only for a limited time. They will also be required to provide proper identification upon boarding and you will have to give the cruise line an accurate list of your guests.

Couples who want to take advantage of getting married in a cruise tend to go toward the big-ship cruise companies. A few lines however, such as Crystal and Cunard lines do not allow onboard weddings. High-priced luxury line such as Seaborn, do not cater to weddings. But if you still want to get married on their ship, you will just have to bring your own minister.

Also keep in mind that getting married in a cruise is not for everyone. There may still be some obstacle such as obtaining a marriage license, the fee that goes with it and the destination where you want to get married may all be complicated especially if the place where you will get married requires you to apply in person. Although the cruise line wedding coordinator may assist you in obtaining your marriage license for a fee, or can provide you with the information that you require, some people may still find this tasking. A solution to this is by just having the wedding while it is still in port or even in the port itself, then followed by the celebration at the cruise.
